Our Story & Mission Statement
Steve Payne has been building homes for over 40 years since 1979, after acquiring a love of the construction industry through three generations of Paynes - his father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In 1995, he ventured out on his own and began building as a sole proprietor for his very own company, Steve Payne Construction. It was only a matter of time before his attention to detail, heart for quality craftsmanship, and love for his hometown, Shafter, CA, was passed down to his daughter, Stephanie Payne, and the two have been working together ever since once she joined the company, now known as SL Payne Construction, in 2016.

Our mission at SL Payne Construction is to construct quality homes with integrity, preserve passion and restoration within our community, and to improve the living and working spaces of those we connect with, while adapting to an ever-changing industry.
